The United States has made dollar coins since 1794, with nine major
design changes, Flowing Hair, Draped Bust, Liberty Seated, Trade,
Morgan, Peace, Ike, Anthony and Sacagawea or Golden Dollars.
The Morgan Dollar, named after the designer George Morgan, his
initial M is located at the truncation of the neck. Also called the
Liberty Head, features a head of Liberty facing left. The reverse
portrays an eagle with both wings up in readiness, arrows in left talon,
and an olive branch in the right talon.
The Peace Dollar, minted in 1921, was issued as a commemorative coin, it was
so popular in 1922 it was issued for circulation. The first year
commemorative issue has a high relief, The design is higher then the
rim these coins wouldn't stack well and the design would wear rapidly.

In 1922 the rim was raised and the design was lowered. Anthony De Francisci,
a medalist, designed this dollar. His wife, Teresa was the model for Miss
Liberty, she faces left on the obverse. His monogram is located in the field
of the coin under the neck of Miss Liberty. The word PEACE is found under
the perched eagle on the reverse as a symbol of armistice following the
First World War.
An interesting design element of the Peace Dollar is the use of the roman U in the word trust, which looks like the letter V, leading people to believe that the coin they have is an error example. The Eisenhower Dollar, Ike for short, was issued in 1971, honoring the popular W.W.II military leader and 34th president of the United States, Dwight Eisenhower, the last of the large one dollar coins, his portrait faces left on the obverse and the Apollo 11 Insignia of the 1969 space mission.., which put the first man on the moon, on the reverse. The Susan B. Anthony Dollar, issued in 1979, is the first coin to honor a women. Miss Anthony was a leader in the fight for women's voting rights. Her portrait faces right on the obverse and the famous Apollo 11 Insignia, the eagle landing on the moon on the reverse. The Mini-Dollar slightly larger then a quarter, wasn't readily accepted, mainly because it often became confused with the quarter and so no one wanted them. Vaults became stockpiled with 1979 and 1980 dollars, so in the middle of 1981 the U.S. Mint decided not to bother to issue the 1981 Anthony Dollars for circulation, and only a limited number were produced, making the 1981 Anthony Dollar the last and rarest year of the series. The new dollar coin released in 2000 is the same size as the SBA and has a gold color. Maybe this one will last for more then three years.

1896
Morgan Dollar, Could pass for EF, has a little dirt or grease
on reverse right side, Nice coin, see picture.
1899-O
Morgan Dollar, Grades Fine, An even dark gray color no problem coin, see
picture.
1901
Morgan Dollar, Grades Good +, An even gray color, reverse is darker then
obverse, This coin has VG details but part of rim is worn off on reverse
under ONE DOLLAR backing this down to Good. Still a tough year to find,
less then 7 million minted, see picture.
1901-O
Morgan Dollar, Grades VF+, Could pass for EF, Nice coin bright and shiny
except for the reverse has a Blue/Brown tone spot in the center about the
size of a quarter, see picture. I guess you could dip it and make it all
shiny but that would lower it's value.
1901-S
Morgan Dollar, Grades VG, with an even gray color problem free semi-key
date, less then 2.5 million minted, see picture.
1921
Morgan Dollar, Looks Mint state, but it has some green specks on reverse
top part of right wing and under arrows, it shows up as
dark areas, see picture.

Composition: .900 silver, .100 copper
1921
The first year of the Peace Dollar, this is a high relief coin so it's hard
for me to grade. I make it out at Good to Very Good, it has an even gray
color but looks like someone ran an eraser on obverse left side, One rim
ding at 7 and 9 on obverse and at 4 O'clock on reverse. The coin looks
better then the scan "almost" all lettering visible but very weak in spots,
On the reverse it's missing Pe in Peace and most of AMERICA is worn off.
On the obverse only the top half of 1921 is visible. This is a well
circulated coin but it's a key date and a part of history.
Only 1,006,473 minted.
1922
Peace Dollar, Grades VF, Even gray color, problem free coin.
1922-S
Peace Dollar, Grades Fine, Even gray color, problem free coin.
1923
Peace Dollar, Grades VF, Even gray color, problem free coin.
1923-S
Peace Dollar, Grades Fine, Even gray color, problem free coin.
1925
Peace Dollar, Grades Fine, Even gray color, problem free coin.
1934-D
Peace Dollar, Grades EF+, This one might pass as Uncirculated, in fact I
bought it as Uncirculated. It's bright and shiny with plenty of mint luster
left, it's so shiny I can't even get a good scan of it. But it does have a
very ugly scratch on the obverse that runs from the mouth to the edge of
coin at 8 O'clock and two small carbon dots on reverse, Still a tough date
in a very high grade, see picture.
